As is shown in the first cartoon, the flower is placed in acomfortable greenhouse that shelters it from the threatening lightning andstorm. On thecontrary, when removed from the greenhouse and exposed to the drivingrain, the flower soon fades and withers, with the petals scattered on theground.
To begin with, the purpose of the drawings is to show us thatthe flower growing in the green house cannot withstand the test of the storm, yet the symbolic meanings subtlyconveyed should be taken more seriously. The delicate flower is naturally associated withyoung people, to be specific,the only children in our current society; the greenhouse epitomizes parents' dotingcare and abundant material supplies that can shield the children from thestorms, or the harsh reality. As is shown in the pictures, we can see that with the increase of commercial fishing, the number offishessharply decreased. In one picture, there were variouskinds of fish and only one fishing-boat in 1900. On the contrary, in 1995 there was onlyone fish, but many fishing-boats.
The purpose of this picture is to show us that due attention has to bepaid to the decrease of ocean resources. Owing to over-fishing, the number of fishes has obviouslydecreased. If we let this situation go as it is, we won't know where fish is in the future. By that time, our environment willsuffer a great destruction.
Therefore, it is imperative for us to take drastic measures. For one thing, we shouldappeal to our authorities to makestrict laws to control commercial fishing.For another, we should enhance the awareness of people that the ocean resources are vital to us.Only in this way can we protect ouroceanresources. Can you find anything new and substantial other than their obligations,duties and jobs in these so called promises? I guess your answer will benegative. I daresay that our society is suffering corruption and cheat which are causing damageto society both materially and morally. But the hen andher like should know that by dishonest words no one can survive the intensecompetition under market economy system. They should remember the old saying,“Honesty is the best policy”.
