Thisphoto does reflect a thought-provoking social phenomenon which is not uncommoninChinanow. Theyoung always give up because the problem is beyond their ability to cope with. Beckham represents the image ofsport hero whose handsome appearance and unparalleled football skills arepassionately adored by all the sports fans. Likewise, several teenage girls won their fame overnight in The2005 Super Girl Contest inChina, which provoked nationwide noisydebates on the value and harm of admiring these idols. Briefly speaking, young people areinclined to idolize the people who excel in appearance, intelligence ortalent.
Hence, idolatry, the thought-provoking social phenomenon, is a double-edged sword whichcan exert profound influence on the growth of young people. If we simplyworship the idols by imitating their hairstyles or pursuing fashionsunreasonably, the obsession willcertainly waste us a great deal of money or time, endangering the efficiency ofour work. On the contrary, we will lead a positive and fruitful life if weendeavor to improve ourselves by bridging the gap between our models andus. Only by doing so can we help to make the world abetter place, for, as the picture shows, the darker the shadows of sorrowbecome, the more brightly the lamp of loveshines.
