【辨析】 genius語氣非常強，用于指罕見的人或有罕見才能的人：Goethe had genius. （歌德富有天才）。Einstein was a genius. （愛因斯坦是個天才人物）。talent的語氣比genius稍弱，僅指一個人 的天生的才能，而不可指其本人：She has a talent for music. （她有天生的音樂才能）。skill和ability指善于做某事的能力，是通過學習獲得的：She weaves with great skill (ability). （她非常善于編織）。capacity主要是指接受能力，即對某種能力一學就會：The child shows a great capacity for learning languages. （這個孩子學語言的能力很強）。competence指技能達到能勝任某項工作的程度，但不是非凡的程度：a test of one?s competence as a driver （駕駛能力的考試）。faculty是指某一方面的技能或才能：the faculty of never forgetting people?s names （能記住別人姓名的能力）。

Don?t try to get out of your duties. 不要逃脫你的責任。重點提示 1. 在正式的書面語中最好避免使用get, 而是根據意思分別使用become, receive, obtain, move等詞，以免產生歧義。2. 在英式英語中，get和become都可以表示“成長為”，如He?s getting (to be) (=becoming) an old man.在美式英語中，to be不能省，但只有在不至于理解為“獲得”時，才用get來表示此意。3. 英國人說get to know sb.是表示認識（理解）了某人，而美國人這樣說時還可以表示“被允許”或“有機會”，如She never gets to drive the car. （她從來沒有機會開車子）。
