Prickly Rose 帶“刺”的玫瑰
A certain man planted a rose and watered it faithfully and before it blossomed, he examined it.
He saw the bud that would soon blossom, but noticed thorns upon the stem and he thought, “How can any beautiful flower come from a plant burdened with so many sharp thorns？” Saddened by this thought, he neglected to water the rose, and just before it was ready to bloom, it died.
So it is with many people. Within every soul there is a rose. The God-like qualities planted in us at birth, grow amid the thorns of our faults. Many of us look at ourselves and see only the “thorns”, the defects.
We despair, thinking that nothing good can possibly come from us. We neglect to water the good within us, and eventually it dies. We never realize our potential.
Some people do not see the “rose”within themselves; someone else must show it to them. One of the greatest gifts of a great person is to be able to reach past the “thorns” of other people, and find the “rose” within them.
This is one of the characteristic of love——to look at other people, know their true faults and all the while recognize the good within them. Help others to realize they can overcome their faults. If we show them the “rose” within themselves, they will conquer their “thorns”. Only then will they “blossom” many times over.

有一個人種了一棵玫瑰。他精心地給玫瑰澆水，在它開花之前仔細(xì)地觀察它。
他看到了很快就要綻放的花蕾，但也注意到了花莖上的刺。他想：“美麗的花怎么會從一棵為許多尖刺所累的植物里長出來呢？”這么一想，他傷心起來，就忘了給玫瑰澆水。于是，玫瑰就在即將開花之時死了。
許多人也是這樣。每個人的身上都有著玫瑰花般的美好品質(zhì)，這些優(yōu)異品質(zhì)與生俱來，在我們?nèi)绱桃话愕娜秉c(diǎn)中成長。我們許多人在看自己時只看到身上的“刺”——缺點(diǎn)。
我們?yōu)榇私^望，認(rèn)為自己不會有出息，于是就忘了培育自己身上的長處，致使它最終消亡。我們根本沒有認(rèn)識到自己的潛力。
一些人看不到他們自己擁有的“玫瑰”，其他人應(yīng)該幫助他們看到這些“玫瑰”。偉人的一個突出才能就是能夠超越別人身上的“刺”，發(fā)現(xiàn)他們內(nèi)在的“玫瑰”。
這是愛的一個特質(zhì)——看別人時，既看到他們實(shí)實(shí)在在的缺點(diǎn)，同時也要始終看到他們內(nèi)在的優(yōu)點(diǎn)。幫助他人認(rèn)識到他們能克服自己的缺點(diǎn)。如果能讓他們看到自己內(nèi)在的“玫瑰”，他們就能戰(zhàn)勝身上的“刺”。只有這樣，他們才能一遍遍地“開花”。
